As a history teacher, I used this mural kit to show my students the art and spiritual symbolism of Dunhuang Buddhism. The details made the culture feel tangible, not just textbook. Maybe include a small guide about the symbolism next time?

Now the finished Guanyin piece hangs in my entryway—it feels like it brings such peaceful, lucky energy to my home. The gold details look gorgeous against my green wall.

My only tiny wish is that the gold powder was a bit more adhesive, but overall it’s stunning. Would totally buy more themes like this!

Bringing Fahai Home: The Art of Touchable History

Kyle Fung

Founder of  FúCollective

One of the most quietly profound moments of my cultural journey happened at Fahai Temple, hidden in the hills outside Beijing. Built between 1439 and 1443 during the Ming Dynasty under the patronage of the court eunuch Li Tong, this sacred site was once a royal temple embodying the highest ideals of Buddhist art and imperial devotion. Stepping into its dimly lit main hall felt like stepping into a whispered conversation with the Ming Dynasty.

What struck me first was the silence—not an empty silence, but one filled with presence. Then, as my eyes adjusted, the murals awoke.

I stood before the Water-Moon Guanyin, her grace rendered in mineral pigments that seemed to breathe under the soft light. Her robes floated with such delicacy, it was as if they’d sway if you whispered too close. Every detail—the subtle shading, the almost translucent layers of color—spoke of artisans who didn’t just paint, but prayed with their brushes.

But what moved me most was the humanity in the art. This wasn’t made for grandeur; it was made for devotion. You can feel it: the patience, the faith, the mastery that turned pigment into poetry.

That’s why I wanted to bring a piece of Fahai Temple into this collection. The APIECE ART team is composed of academically trained cultural relic restoration experts. In collaboration with the Provincial Museum, what they're offering isn’t just about replicating art—it’s about retracing the hands of those Ming artists. It’s for those who want not just to create, but to connect; to touch, in some small way, the quiet majesty of a tradition that still resonates across six centuries.

This is more than a kit. It’s an invitation to slow down, to listen, and to add your own stroke to a story that began long before us—and will linger long after.
